Sean Bauman, PhD

Dr. Sean Bauman is the CEO of IMMY, a global leader in fungal diagnostics headquartered in Norman, Oklahoma. With a Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology, Sean and his brother Scott grew up immersed in the company founded by their father, Dr. Stan Bauman, in a 15-square-foot barn space in 1979. From sweeping floors to assembling mailings, Sean learned every aspect of the business firsthand.

Under his leadership, IMMY has evolved from its humble beginnings into a biotechnology innovator offering over 100 products in more than 70 countries. He has championed the development of rapid, culture-independent diagnostics—including WHO-recommended tests for fungal meningitis—driving IMMY’s mission to bring accessible diagnostics to even the most remote communities.

Tim Heefner, JD

Tim Heefner is President of IMMY, where he serves as Integrator and strategic leader, aligning the company’s vision with operational execution. He earned a BBA in Finance in 1994 and a Juris Doctor in 1998, both from the University of Oklahoma. Tim oversees IMMY’s financial health, global strategy, and organizational efficiency, while fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

Since stepping into the role, Tim has led the implementation of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), restructured operating plans, and scaled strategies to meet global diagnostic demands. His leadership has supported major product launches, accelerated international expansion, and empowered teams to deliver on IMMY’s mission to improve health and save lives worldwide.

Tom Chiller, MD, MPHTM

Dr. Tom Chiller is a globally recognized infectious disease expert and former Chief of the Mycotic Diseases Branch at the CDC. With over 20 years of leadership in fungal disease surveillance, outbreak response, and global health policy, he has been instrumental in combating threats like Candida auris, cryptococcal meningitis, and azole-resistant Aspergillus.

At IMMY, Dr. Chiller brings deep clinical insight and strategic vision to expand access to rapid, affordable fungal diagnostics. He played a key role in launching FungiSurv and advancing fungal pathogens onto the WHO Priority Pathogen List, furthering IMMY’s commitment to global health and innovation in fungal disease detection.

Bryan Skinner, MBA

With an MBA from the University of Oklahoma and dual bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Management Information Systems from Oklahoma State University, Bryan brings a strong foundation in both finance and technology. As Chief Financial Officer at IMMY, he leads global financial strategy and analysis while overseeing accounting, reporting, and IT operations. Since joining IMMY in 2012, Bryan has driven the company’s financial growth, streamlined operations, and championed IT innovations that enhance efficiency and support IMMY’s mission of bringing diagnostics closer to the patient.

Joy Pelfrey, MPH

Joy began her career at IMMY nearly 20 years ago as a product development specialist. Over the years, she spearheaded product development initiatives and established the Histoplasma GM Enzyme Immunoassay. She successfully led three 510(k) FDA clearances and built IMMY’s quality and regulatory teams from the ground up.

As Chief Operating Officer, Joy oversees supply chain and manufacturing quality, ensuring that IMMY consistently delivers reliable, accurate diagnostics to patients around the world. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Public Health from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
