Sporothrix Latex Agglutination System
Latex Agglutination System for Antibody Detection
|
Sporotrichosis, caused by Sporothrix schenckii, has been diagnosed worldwide, but is most common in warm temperate or tropical regions. The largest number of cases have been reported in North America; however, large epidemics have been reported in Africa, Central and South America, France, Germany and Australia. The organism is widely distributed in nature on soil and plants, and infection is acquired most frequently through tramatic inoculation into the skin and less frequently through inhalation. Latex agglutination on serum from suspected cases is the detection method of choice.
